In keeping with the guidelines of our Archdiocese of Toronto, regular participation at weekly Catholic mass is required for admission to First Holy Communion. This means that if you attend Mass here at St. Benedict with your child on Saturday evening or Sunday, you are welcome to register your child here for Holy Communion. If you go to another Catholic church, you are encouraged to register your child for Communion at that parish.
At St. Benedict Parish, we are proud to offer 3 parish-based options to help prepare your child for First Holy Communion. You can choose the option that best suits your child’s particular needs.
1. If your child is already registered in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (Atrium),
o Communion will be addressed at an age-appropriate time on the journey of faith offered in the Atrium.
2. You may register your child in Faith & Family if your child is:
o Six years of age or older, is NOT baptized and attends Public or Catholic School
o Six years of age or older, is baptized and attends Public School
3. You may register your child in Come to the Table if your child is:
o In Grade 2, attends Catholic School, is Baptized Catholic and attends St. Benedict church
