| Welcome, New Parishioners |
 |
Welcome to St. Benedict Parish in Toronto. Our patron, the great 5th century father of Western Monasticism, begins his famous Rule of Life with a timeless invitation:
Listen carefully, my son, my daughter, to the master's instructions, and attend to them with the ear of your heart. This is advice from a father who loves you; welcome it, and faithfully put it into practice.
St. Benedict’s invitation to listen fell on receptive ears. Those who came to his monastery seeking God learned to recognize God in their midst, hearing God speaking to their hearts, inspiring their actions, calling them forth in faith, hope and love to build a culture of life.

| Our Toronto parish is not a monastery, but a dynamic presence of God in a secular landscape. We are not monks, but women, men and children living in a busy world with so many voices clamoring for our attention. All the more life-giving, then, is St. Benedict’s invitation to listen to the Voice of Love.
Trusting in St. Benedict’s patronage, I welcome you to our parish. May you find here a spiritual home that allows you to listen to the voice of God in all that this Christian community has to offer. May that listening fill you with peace and joy, a concern for justice, and a hunger for holiness, God’s gifts to all who listen to Him.
Like any family, our parish family has a lot to be proud of, but we are still a work in progress as witnesses of Jesus Christ. We thank God for sending you to us to help us become more authentic Christians as we listen to Him speak to us through you.
Sincerely,
Fr. Michael Pace, SDB Pastor
